America’s Eighth Best Large Employer
While the free In-N-Out promotion is sure to thrill residents in Fresno, California, a recent report found that the popular fast-food chain’s employees are some of the happiest in the United States.
Statista unveiled the 10th edition of America’s Best Large Employers list. Forbes reports that 701 companies with over 5,000 employees are included in this year’s ranking.
The rankings were “primarily” based on survey responses from thousands of workers nationwide, just like Forbes’ America’s Best Midsize Employers rating. Survey participants answered questions about their workplace and rated it based on things like pay, the atmosphere at work, and previous employers. They were also asked if they would suggest employers they knew from their experience in the field or loved ones employed there.
At No. 8, In-N-Out Burger outperformed organizations like St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Apple, Salesforce, and NASA.
However, Trader Joe’s beat the restaurant chain, ranking second on the satisfaction list, only surpassed by the University of Notre Dame. Google, Microsoft, and Navy Federal Credit Union were ranked fifth through seventh, while Houston Methodist and NVIDIA were ranked third and fourth, respectively.
The well-known fast-food brand also said it will close its Orange County headquarters after 30 years as it looks to expand to Tennessee, where it plans to establish more than 30 stores. According to a news release released on Feb. 10, the fast-food chain plans to close its long-standing Irvine offices at 4199 Campus Drive and consolidate in Baldwin Park by the end of 2029.
Baldwin Park, In-N-Out’s “western territory” headquarters, was the site of the chain’s founding in 1948. According to business reports, In-N-Out Burger intends to open more locations throughout the state before the year ends, having already established an “eastern territory office” close to Nashville.
“Some of our Associates will be relocating to Tennessee, which makes it even more important to centralize our western headquarters in one location, and our company’s deepest roots are in Baldwin Park,” owner and president Lynsi Snyder said in the announcement. “Our West Coast family will be together in one place, where In-N-Out Burger began.”
In-N-Out Burger seems to be moving closer to the East Coast with the recent announcement of plans to open 35 more locations in Tennessee, much to the delight of the East Coast contingent.
According to the Nashville Business Journal, Snyder admitted during the Feb. 4 Nashville Business Breakfast, hosted by Lipscomb University and the Business Journal, that she “fell in love” with Tennessee, which is the main reason for the impressive rise.
