Air France has announced a new partnership with a French startup company. This new partnership will provide Wi-Fi to all the airline’s customers at a reasonable rate. Let’s take a look at what we know about this new partnership.
Air France Teamed Up With Kolet
In a press release announcement, it was revealed that Air France is providing its clients with a connectivity option that is accessible in over 190 countries at a discounted rate through a partnership with Kolet, a French startup that specializes in eSIM technology.
It is quick, simple, and affordable to purchase and install an eSIM on your smartphone via the dedicated website or by downloading the Kolet app and inputting the code AFKLDATA. Even before takeoff, clients can choose a prepaid data plan to instantly get mobile data, and once they land at their location, they can enjoy a dependable internet connection.
Customers who use Kolet eSIM mobile data can retain their phone number because of eSIM technology. They can quickly set up the eSIM card in their device’s settings. In more than 190 countries, Kolet collaborates with the top mobile networks in the world, ensuring affordable rates, a flawless connection during your visit, and the elimination of international roaming fees associated with accessing the internet overseas.
This preferential offer completely integrates the Flying Blue reward program of the Air France-KLM group.
Flying Blue members receive 10 miles for each euro spent on a Kolet prepaid data plan. A friend or family member can earn an extra 250 miles for each initial data plan purchased by sponsoring them and recommending them to test Kolet. All of the aforementioned benefits are available to the sponsored individual, including a 10% discount, 1GB of free data, and the opportunity to accrue Miles for each purchase.
Lastly, Flying Blue users can use their Miles to buy data plans straight from the app or the dedicated website if they are from France or the Netherlands. Because Flying Blue+ has been incorporated into both the website and the app, this is now feasible.
Potential New Lounge in Newark
Last month, the international airline announced that it was potentially opening a new lounge in New Jersey’s Newark International Airport.
As of Oct. 24, Air France presented a plan for the new lounge to representatives of the Port Authority. As of this writing, the proposal is being reviewed.
The airline proposed a seven-year lease that would start on Jan. 1, 2025. During the first leasing term, the airline has agreed to pay $13.4 million in rent.
Additionally, the international airline has committed to spending at least $3 million on lounge renovations. The current deficiencies of Terminal B’s first-class passenger amenities will be fixed by this improvement. The Port Authority’s executive director “received recommendations to approve the proposal.” Following the resumption of flights between Newark and Paris in December 2022, Air France received this extension.
The investment demonstrates Air France’s confidence in the Newark-Paris service’s performance. Congested gate spaces and limited concession options are currently problems at Newark Airport’s Terminal B.
There are other airlines that are advocating for lounge upgrades besides the renowned French carrier. JetBlue Airways announced back in October that it would be opening its first airport lounges at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York and Boston Logan International Airport (BOS). The airline plans to open its lounges in New York by the end of 2025 and Boston soon after. This initiative is part of the airline’s “JetForward” strategy, which attempts to increase premium items for its loyal customers.
