McDonald’s has expanded its partnership with Krispy Kreme, rolling out doughnuts to all locations in New York City. Plus, customers now also have the option to enjoy the fast-food chain’s beloved breakfast bagel sandwiches for the first time since 2020.
Per a press release, all New York McDonald’s locations now serve Krispy Kreme doughnuts. The Big Apple joins stores in Chicago, Cleveland, Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, and Louisville, which already sell the sweet treats. By the end of 2025, more than half of all McDonald’s restaurants in the United States will offer Krispy Kreme doughnuts, and by 2026, they will be available at all 13,500 locations nationwide.
Currently, customers can order three varieties, including the original glazed, the chocolate iced with sprinkles, and the chocolate iced Kreme filled.
Additionally, McDonald’s beloved bagel sandwiches are back on menus nationwide. They have been off most franchise menus since 2020, according to TheStreet. The fast-food chain first introduced the bagels in 1999 at some locations, but according to the company, this is the “first time ever” they have been available across the entire U.S.
After being pulled from menus in 2020, McDonald’s brought the bagel sandwiches back to participating locations in select markets in 2022 for a limited time and then again in 2024. The bagels began appearing on menus quietly last year, but due to their success, they are back for good. Fans can now find Bacon, Egg & Cheese and Steak, Egg & Cheese Bagel Sandwiches on menus nationwide.
How Long Have Some McDonald’s Stores Been Selling Krispy Kreme Doughnuts?
Krispy Kreme and McDonald’s first announced their partnership in October 2022 when the companies began a small operations test in nine restaurants around Louisville, Kentucky.
The test run grew into 160 restaurants in the Lexington and Louisville, Kentucky, areas in March 2023. A year later, the brands announced an expanded national partnership, with a phased rollout to all McDonald’s restaurants by the end of 2026.
“Since the launch of breakfast nearly 50 years ago, we’ve continued to offer new menu items, flavors, and experiences that have made McDonald’s an irreplaceable part of fans’ morning routines,” said Tariq Hassan, McDonald’s USA’s chief marketing and customer experience officer, in a press release last March. “This partnership is an exciting next step in that journey and a chance to unlock new business opportunities in the breakfast category and throughout the day. Our fans’ love for Krispy Kreme runs deep, and we can’t wait to make it even easier for them to satisfy their sweet tooth at McDonald’s restaurants across the country.”
“The top request we receive from consumers, every day, is, ‘Please bring Krispy Kreme to my town.’ Partnering with McDonald’s on a national scale will provide our fans and doughnut lovers unprecedented daily access to fresh doughnuts and the joy that is Krispy Kreme,” said Krispy Kreme President and CEO Josh Charlesworth.
“Significantly, by making Kreme Krispy accessible to fans nationwide through this partnership, we expect to more than double our points of access by the end of 2026. The partnership accelerates the development of our existing Delivered Fresh Daily channel, creating operating leverage through distribution density and production utilization,” Charlesworth concluded.
Krispy Kreme’s rollout at all New York McDonald’s locations began on Feb. 25.
