Starbucks‘ spring menu has leaked, bringing a fresh lineup of seasonal flavors and aromas.
Food blogger Markie Devo teased what’s to come in the months ahead via Instagram on Monday, Jan. 27. He announced a new menu item, the Iced Cherry Chai, which includes “Cherry Cream Cold Foam with subtle floral and almond notes” and is completed with a cherry crunch flavored topping.
Returning to the spring menu are Starbucks’ Iced Lavender Cream Oatmilk Matcha, Iced Lavender Oatmilk Latte, and Iced Creme Frappuccino Blended, as well as two new Iced Energy drinks with flavors of Tropical Peach and Blueberry Lemonade.
“Lavender is the perfect flavor to transition us from the winter season into spring,” Starbucks Beverage Developer Patrick Penny said in a 2024 press release when announcing the debut of the lavender drinks. “Its soft sweetness, light floral notes, and beautiful color ignite feelings of rejuvenation and awakening associated with the change of seasons.”
“When creating the new Iced Lavender Cream Oatmilk Matcha, we wanted to capture the uplifting energy of spring in a cup,” Penny continued. “The vibrant green matcha topped with lavender-hued cold foam delivers a delightfully colorful and unexpectedly delicious flavor combination.”
“We aimed to create a really balanced, delicious beverage,” Penny concluded. “The oatmilk and the Starbucks Blonde Espresso make a lovely pairing, providing a smooth, well-rounded profile that is complemented by the floral and vanilla flavors of lavender.”
A tasty take-and-go menu item new to Starbucks’ spring menu is the Jalapeño Chicken Pocket. This sandwich consists of a toasted chile lavish flatbread wrapped and stuffed with diced chicken, charred poblanos, green jalapeños, three-chile-pepper cheese, and jalapeño cream cheese. Pair that with the chain’s new Truff Hot Sauce, or its Original or Jalapeño Lime Hot Sauce, and you have an explosive combination of flavors.
These new and returning menu items will debut sometime in March. Starbucks has not yet released an official date.
What Other Changes Does Starbucks Have on Tap for 2025?
Menu shakeups aren’t the only thing that’s changing at Starbucks. Under new CEO Brian Niccol’s leadership, the company is changing its in-cafe customer experience. These shifts include free refills of hot brewed or iced coffee and tea for all in-store customers (no longer just Rewards members), a reversal of the chain’s open-door policy, and the return of its beloved condiment bar.
Also, Starbucks is set to bring back glass mugs and glasses after years of sticking with disposable cups for those dining in cafes, according to NBC News. “We’ve taken steps to refocus the business, our mission and our marketing to better align with our identity as a coffee company,” Niccol said on Tuesday. “We’re relying less on discounts to drive customer traffic and doing more to demonstrate our value.”
Starbucks also recently removed the upcharge for nondairy milk customizations and now promises to deliver orders to customers in four minutes or less. The company will also be implementing digital menu boards in its cafes in the U.S. in the next 18 months. Niccol said these changes are necessary to position Starbucks as a “community coffeehouse.”
